Meet Matt

Matthew G. Duckstein Jr., PE, a highly experienced Engineering Consultant and Commercial UAS Chief Pilot with a remarkable career spanning over two decades. With expertise in design, construction, and inspection of civil and structural projects, his portfolio includes structural designs, construction and restoration management, forensic investigations, and cutting-edge commercial UAS drone flight inspections in central/south Florida. His work extends across a diverse range of projects, from movable and fixed bridge inspections on major rivers like the Ohio, Mississippi, Hudson, and St. Clair, to concrete, steel, and masonry design, construction defect inspections, and building code forensic services for both commercial and residential structures, both from the ground and air.

His educational foundation includes a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, earned from Pennsylvania State University in August 2001.

Matthew’s professional experience includes key roles at renowned organizations. His early career saw him assume the roles of a Field Engineer at Modjeski & Masters, Inc. in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, as Staff Engineer at URS Corporation in Boca Raton, Florida, and as a Project Civil/Structural Engineer and UAS Pilot at Northstar Contracting Group, LLC in West Palm Beach. Matthew was the Director of Quality Assurance and Commercial UAS Chief Pilot at Engineering Express, Inc. in Delray Beach, Florida, and served as the Engineering Director and Commercial UAS Chief Pilot at M2E, LLC in West Palm Beach, Florida. These roles demonstrate his dedication to combining engineering expertise with cutting-edge UAS technology. Currently, Matthew serves as the Primary Consultant and Commercial UAS Chief Pilot at Building Mavens, Inc., where he continues to bring his wealth of knowledge to the forefront of his work.

His career has seen him provide sworn testimony in various legal cases, including depositions, often retained by both plaintiffs and defendants, demonstrating his deep expertise in the field. His testimony has been crucial in cases such as Icon Bay Condominium Association, Inc. v. PRH NE 28th Street, LLC, Two City Plaza Condominium Association, Inc. v. Kolter City Plaza II, Inc., and many others, further highlighting his impact in the industry.

Matthew’s career has been defined by his commitment to professional growth and learning. This is reflected in his certifications, licenses, and affiliations. He holds the title of a Licensed Professional Engineer in Florida (PE #80786) and Pennsylvania (PE #84365). He holds Level 1 Unbonded PT Repair and Installer (#01397434) certifications from the Post-Tensioning Institute. He has also been certified as an Unmanned Aircraft Systems (“UAS”) remote pilot by the FAA (#3914900). His commitment to excellence is further exemplified by his memberships in prominent engineering societies and organizations, including the American Concrete Institute (ACI), the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the Florida Engineering Society (FES), the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), the International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI), and the Structural Engineering Institute (SEI).
